2009 STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

Michael, thanks for working with me over the past three days. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive about the course. I turned 50 in November and haven't been in a class in over 25 years. Your personal involvement was truly impressive. We spoke several times via phone before and during the class. I was also very impressed by the immediate responses to my questions submitted via email while reviewing the course text and during the class.

The thing I liked the most about the course was receiving actual feedback on the assignments in such a timely fashion. The immediate and detailed critique of my first IRAC draft allowed me to go back to the course text and assignment transcripts and review the sections of IRAC that needed improvement. Without qustion, I had a clearer understanding of IRAC after completing my second draft.

There was really nothing I did not like about the course. If I could make a change, I would like to see additional opportunities to submit work for review and critique. Have you thought of developing a second course that builds on this course? Maybe offer it as an optional class, independent of the law school, to students who would like additional writing opportunities. I suspect there are many who just completed this course that would jump on the opportunity to build on what was learned over the past three days.

I would strongly recommend your course to others entering law school. For folks like me who have not been in a classroom in many years, the course was a great source of focus as well as encouragement. To be truthful, I questioned if I could manage law school at age 50. (You may remember that I actually called you and sought your advice on the issue of my age before enrolling). I also think that the course would be a tremendous benefit for young men and women entering law school immediately after college as the course provides valuable information on briefing cases and legal writing. I truly believe your course provides a great foundation for first year law students. John M.

Lawboost definitely has my positive word of mouth! Keith T.

LawBoost helped me prepare a LOT and it made me feel way, way less lost. I think a cost benefit analysis would show that this is a great investment. Leah A.

I would absolutely recommend Lawboost to any entering law student. I feel that I learned more about writing the right way than I have thus far in my first month of law school. Jeremy C.

I would definitely recommend Lawboost to a friend. When my first assignments were assigned a majority of the people in my class kept asking the professor for clarification on the format. I had no problem because I had already learned to structure my thoughts using IRAC and even used the IRAC example from the LawBoost course text to help me with my analysis. Jessica B.

I would recommend LawBoost because the program did such a good job introducing new law students to the essential IRAC form. I can certainly say that the introduction LawBoost gave to the process and vocabulary of legal analysis made me much more comfortable in my first few months in law school. Samantha F.

Sometimes the law school legal writing class can be cryptic and its nice to have a basic understanding of case briefing and legal writing under your belt from the start. Meredith W.

I would recommend LawBoost to a friend because it introduces a new law student to the process of analyzing the law. Given its short duration, LawBoost does a remarkably good job of showing students how to begin focusing on performing the core skills required for the study of law. LawBoost seems to be appropriately focused on providing tools for solving legal problems. John B.

I would definitely recommend LawBoost to anyone who will the entering law school. My first month consisted of briefing cases, using IRAC for my Torts class; and without the head start from LawBoost I would have been totally lost. The assignments that were given from LawBoost are exactly like the assignments in my Torts and Civil Procedure classes. Erica C.

What I liked most: My answer is twofold. First, I appreciated the flexibility this course offered me. My schedule remains rigorous until law school begins; without the flexibility offered, I may have foregone this opportunity. Second, I believe that I will realize a tremendous return on my investment. The price for this course was a bargain! I briefly considered enrolling in another law school prep course; however, that course required my physical presence in a classroom and charged a high fee. I feel I'm equally prepared after taking your course. Chad W.

I have many books on "How to Think Like a Lawyer", however, none have given me what I was seeking. Your class helped me to synthesize all I have read. Woodroe D.

I would strongly recommend LawBoost. The feedback on my work was key. The student to teacher ratio in law school combined with the amount of material to cover simply doesn't lend itself to the getting feedback from the Prof like we got with LawBoost. William U.

I love that you provided so much feedback on our assignments. It was helpful because it was all very constructive. It was very nice that you were readily available to answer ANY questions if I had any. Stevie F.

I would absolutely recommend this course to a friend considering law school. If one is unfamiliar with the required writing style for law school, IRAC, this course is invaluable. I now feel less anxiety about attending law school and have a better sense as to what will be expected of me. If nothing else, this course really helped relieve some of my pre-law school jitters and boosted my confidence, making it worth every penny! Katharine H.

I really enjoyed the class, and, honestly, there was not anything I least enjoyed. It required a lot of reading, briefing and needed research skills, which I found challenging, yet, enjoyable. I thought that the course assignments, overview, and the samples you provided assisted me in learning the hands-on skills for legal writing. I have taken legal writing in the past and wish I had gained this knowledge prior to class. I would definitely recommend to anyone considering law school to take. I learned a lot and feel like I now know what to expect in writing and briefing cases during law school. Tanna F.

I come from a science background with a Master's Degree in Biotechnology. I am used to reading for content. Anyone that doesn't have anything above an undergraduate degree hasn't truly had the opportunity to develop some of the skills that I have. This class gives you enough of a taste that you are aware of what the next steps are that you need to take to ensure success. Kayde C.

The material provided was excellent, but you went way beyond the provided material and added a great deal of additional applicable information. I appreciate your thoroughness and the detailed feedback we received. Lisa M.

I enjoyed the thorough approach you used and you concisely explained the material in a manner that a 1L student that has yet to step foot into a law school classroom could easily understand. . . . It allowed a lot of the pressure to be taken off of me regarding some of the myths and scare tactics that I have read about regarding legal research and writing. Dawn H.

I enjoyed the entire course.  The breakdown of the class was excellent, easy to follow, and made the law come alive even more for me.  IRAC in particular.  There was nothing I liked least about the class except that it was a lot of cases to read, but I know this is just a preview of what law school will be like. DeShawn K.

I already have recommended it to several people. One of the reasons I recommend it is because it is very reasonably priced, when so many other law prep courses are very expensive. Lee M.

I enjoyed LawBoost and felt like I had learned a great deal about law in just a short amount of time, wWhich if not taught right would have been difficult. James B.

I would most definitely encourage other potential students to take this course.  It was an eye-opener.  I have worked in the legal field for 20+ years.  I draft and prepare correspondence, pleadings and discovery every day.  I was not as prepared as I thought.  I will have to work hard but I know now that it will not be as easy as I thought. Wanda M.

I definitely would to someone who had no background in legal writing. I found the course very helpful. I was a psychology major in college and am having to learn all the basics. Rachel P.

I would recommend it to a friend who had the same background as myself. I just graduated with a science degree. I needed a solid law writing program to get up to speed and gain confidence in writing before classes start. Kaitlyn Turo

This should be one of the first inexpensive financial investments a student should make before making further critical and expensive financial investments in law school. Definitely, a wise decision for an incoming law student. Pamela B.

LawBoost was very helpful in preparation for law school by learning the IRAC method ahead of time. Although it did ease anxiety a little bit, I did not think anything can fully reduce my anxiety. Being out of college for 12 years, it was a very good program that helped me start thinking as a law student. Having to start reading law cases and researching legal vocabulary and terms was a very invaluable Pre-legal experience. Learning the IRAC method paid off 100%. LawBoost helped tremendously in thinking outside the box and gearing myself for education and law. Robert S.

I felt the feedback was great and very welcomed. Everyone tries to scare you about law school, but doing the assignments and getting your feedback helped put me at ease about what to expect. In addition, the pace of the courses prepare you for what you are about to walk into. Anna G.

I would recommend this to a friend because it is a eye-opener as to what is expected of a law student. Jennifer D.

I would recommend the course to a friend. One of my summer assignments was briefing a case. By participating in the course, I was able to go back to my assignment and revise the brief. The material covered directly applied to my summer work. Sarah C.

I would definitely recommend LawBoost to anyone. Law school presents such a steep learning curve, you can't just go in on the first day completely blind because you'll get held up with trying to figure out what a legal brief is in a hurry, on your own, so you can finally participate in class discussions effectively. LawBoost gives you the confidence that you need to hit the ground running with the basic skills that you need and can continue to build on. Kyle O.

Would I recommend this class- DEFINITELY- This is the best thing ever!!! I am starting my second career I've always wanted to go to law school but situations in my life were not conducive to obtaining the goal. About a year ago I thought what am I waiting for so I applied and got accepted. This feels like my second chance in life to do something I've always wanted to do. After I was accepted I was very fearful that I wouldn't know what I was doing because I have so many positive people in my life saying " they weed people out in the first year" "are you sure you are up for it"" people fail because they don't grasp the legal writing" which I think is true. I realize that I have a long way to go with my legal writing skills but Lawboost has helped me to think like a lawyer  Thank you Mr. Santana- You are a wonderful teacher and a wonderful person. Patricia F.

I really and truly was impressed with you as a person and the course content. It really is a phenomenal service you provide. Christine P.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone considering law school. 1. The course provides a solid introduction to legal writing, and a solid introduction to reading case opinions. 2. The feedback received in the course is paramount to succeeding law school! 3. The course is well-designed and organized. 4. The course textbook is valuable and easy to follow and the examples are helpful. 5. This course is important to begin the steps to succeeding in law school. 6. Excellent course!!!!  Tamara R.

What I liked most about this course is that it offered a thorough and detailed structure along with excellent feedback.  I enjoyed the entire course. Natosha C.

What I liked most about this course is that it offered a thorough and detailed structure along with excellent feedback.  I enjoyed the entire course Lawboost gave me an insight as to how law school would be like. It helped me prepare my mind. I knew what I was getting into the first night of class. Melanie A.

All of what the LawBoost course covered is needed for starting law school, the professors will expect that you already know how to brief the cases and will start to call on students after the first day. My professors have consistently stressed that the IRAC model is the best to follow and this course will teach it to you. Phillip E.

This course offered me the opportunity to "test drive" some of the material and concepts that will be presented to me throughout my coursework. Shenika W.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who will be attending law school. I believe that it's extremely important to get off to a good start and to have self-confidence and this course offers information and techniques that help with both of these. Richard C.

I would recommend the class to someone entering law school. I think most people go into law school blind in a way. You don't really know what you will be doing or what is expected. Though this course was brief and very basic I feel more comfortable with my ability to write briefs and answers and build on what I have learned. Thank you for your time. I really enjoyed the class and believe it will be a great help in the future. Heather H.

The course is very good. Your input is helping me find my weakness and target it before I have issues in law school. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, not just potential law students.  It already helped me with some email traffic I had today. Ryan K.

Thank you for offering such a fast paced interactive course! I really enjoyed it. really thought diving into so much case law was very beneficial and exciting. It was fun getting to actually do relevant work, not like busy work that you often receive in college. The hardest part was the first assignment.  Just starting out and doing something on my own was difficult. Your guidance was very helpful. I would 100% recommend this class to someone attending or wanting to attend law school! Patrick E.

I was a bit nervous about what the course would entail but after getting into it I think things had a very well thought out progression and learning points. I would absolutely recommend the coure to anyone considering law school. I am sure there are others like me that have no idea what is actually involved in becoming an attorney. The course was well worth the money. Thank you Professor Santana for your guidance and instruction. Charles H.

I would definitely recommend the class to any other fledgling law student. I certainly would not have wanted to start my first class without at least a rudimentary grasp of the concepts you address. Scott G.

I would definitely recommend this course to a friend.  Although I have yet to see what law school is really about, I feel like I have gained a lot of thorough, simple, yet very important knowledge that will probably be much needed for law school.  I feel that I can now read over cases and determine what issues to focus on.  On top of that, I feel like I at least have a small grasp on what is required from legal writing.  Kevin F.

I would recommend LawBoost because it gives you an idea of what to expect especially for Legal Research and Writing Class. Jahan B.

I would recommend this course. I feel that it provided a confidence boost for me.   Thank you for your encouraging words. Kimberly E.

I would recommend LawBoost to a friend entering law school, because the LawBoost gave me a heads up as to what would be expected of me as a law student. Andre J.

Quick feedback and critiques are the great fruits of this course. I would definitely recommend this course not only to friends, but to any individual considering law school in their career. Jahanzeb M.

I really enjoyed this class! There are numerous things I liked about this course, so let me see if I can break in down. What I liked most was the overall organization of educational information this class provided. The entire LawBoost Manual was wonderful and brilliantly outlined! The detailed information regarding the understanding of the legal writing process (IRAC) to the breakdown of drafting of an answer was most helpful for me. I now have a better understanding of summarizing cases, briefing cases, and the format of legal writing. Kimberly B.

I wanted to thank you again for the course.  I really found it informative and I think I have a much better grasp of what I am doing and what will be expected of me in law school. Coby B.

I would certainly recommend it. The cost is very reasonable, especially when you take into consideration the amount that was learned in such a short amount of time. Simply put, an excellent return on my investment. The second thing, and the most important, is the confidence that it gave me as I head into a new experience that so many correctly perceive as a very daunting task. I enjoyed the course and appreciate you offering it. Adam B.
